God created you in His image to reflect His attributes. He also created you to feel accepted, valued, significant, worthy, esteemed and loved. He desires to have a personal and intimate relationship with you. This can only happen when you not only believe in Him but also believe him. Unbelief blocks you from growing past believing God just the salvation, to believing God for every aspect of life on earth. Satan’s biggest reception is to get you to doubt God. But as a believer, you must live by faith that God loves you. Hebrews 11:6 says: “that without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is an believe that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

In this lesson you will learn some causes of unbelief. Why should you believe? What happens when you don’t believe? How do you believe? How do you build your faith? How does God build your faith? How do you maintain your faith? One the lines in your journal use the Observe, Interpret, Apply method for each scripture!

Take a moment and think about some things that cause unbelief. Write at least five on the lines in your journal.

BELIEF – to make firm; to stand firm; to trust; face

You can believe God, because he keeps His promises.

God doesn’t tell half-truths or omit the truth. He is the Truth, the Way, and the Life. We can always count on Him to come through, to be faithful to His Word, even if we are not faithful to ours.

God is not a man that he should tell or act a lie, neither the son of man that He should feel repentance or compunction [for what he has promised]. Has He said and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken and shall He not make it good?

Numbers 23:19

You have to cast down Satan’s lies and receive God’s truth.

Some things that cause unbelief: sin, loss, hurt, doubt, circumstances, disobedience, reasoning and relying on man.

Did you write some of the things mentioned above? There are no right or wrong answers. Only you know what obstacles hinder you from believing God.

UNBELIEF –not worthy of confidence; untrustworthy; a thing not to be believed; not credible.

The devil always tries to make us think that God is holding something back from us. Got always have our best interest at heart. He always wants what’s best for us. Everything God allows has a purpose and He gave us a promise.

He was a murderer from the beginning and does not speak in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks of falsehood he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar [himself] and the father of lies and all that is false.

John 8:44

It is the devil that speaks lies to us it and when we choose to listen to him he gets as off course and distracts us from the plans God has for us. We must choose to believe God and not the facts of what we see, think or feel.
