Day 9 Proverbs Challenge: Lady Wisdom or Madame Whore

“Having dismissed her serving maids, Lady Wisdom goes to town, stands in a prominent place, invites everyone within sound of her voice: “Are you confused about life, don’t know what’s going on? Come with me, oh come, have dinner with me! I’ve prepared a wonderful spread—fresh-baked bread, roast lamb, carefully selected wines. Leave your impoverished confusion and live! Walk up the street to a life with meaning”

Proverbs 9:3-6 (MSG) (emphasis added)

The Word of God constantly and consistently reminds us that the fear of the Lord will lead us into understanding Him and our purpose in life. This fear is not one of being “scared”, but it is a reverent and holy fear of an awesome and righteous God. It is only through living a life of worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome that you will start to understand wisdom in order to gain spiritual insight into life. This wisdom is called Lady Wisdom in the Book of Proverbs. Continue reading
