Confessing the Word

Re-posted to remind us that speaking God’s Word over our lives is vital today.

Confessing or speaking words based on the Word of God out loud is a necessary and powerful part of our Christian walk.  According to Webster’s dictionary, to confess means to acknowledge or admit belief or faith in.  In Genesis, when God spoke, things began to happen/change for the better.  Accordingly, when we speak his Word, things begin to happen/change for the better.  So let’s start confessing!

True Beauty

Ladies, how many times have you done this – looked in the mirror and said something like, “I don’t like my _____” or “I wish my _____ were _____” or “Why can’t be like ______” or “I wish I had ___ like ____”. Sometimes we have looked at our mates and said, “I wish my ____ had a body like _____.”  Be honest with yourself; no one will hear.  We all have.  I know I have.

 It can be hard not to these days.  We are constantly bombarded with images of flawless, poreless skin, perfect white teeth, every-hair-in-place-dos, unspoiled rounded breasts, and size 2 bodies in body-hugging clothes (how do women breathe in those clothes??)   Sometimes we forget the images are “photo-shopped” and the bodies shown are the result of extreme cosmetic surgeries and unhealthy dieting.  These photos are not “real pictures” of a woman.  They are designed to not only make us lose focus on what’s important in life, but also make us feel discontented, inferior and crave something else.   It’s the same old Continue reading

What happens to a love deferred?  Does it keep its aromatic beginnings or does it take on the pungent decay that happens to most living things when left unattended over time?  I have asked myself that question dozens, no, hundreds of times over these many years – smitten, infatuated, love struck.  I can’t pick just one because they all apply to how I felt, and still feel about a certain someone whom I have carried in my heart, although maybe not always in the forefront, for as long as I can remember those first real feelings of warmth that a young girl gets when she knows that she has met her first love, someone she thinks could be her forever love.
